Project Angel Food’s 2017 Angel Awards

I had the honor of introducing my friend and KTLA boss Jason Ball this weekend at the Project Angel Food’s 2017 Angel Awards Gala.

Jason is not only an extraordinary friend and boss, but he also uses his talents to help bring assistance to thousands of people in need in our Los Angeles community. Project Angel Food recognized him and KTLA reporter Gayle Anderson for their ongoing dedication to this important cause.

The event came on the heels of a rough week emotionally for our nation after the rallies and unnecessary death of Heather Heyer in Charlottesville, North Carolina. It made me realize once again, we cannot fight hate with hate. It is useless. Instead, let’s take a few breaths and figure out a way to counter that hate by doing something from a place of love and kindness. Yelling at each other on the streets at these rallies does no good. If we just stop showing up, those who are marching in the name of hate will quiet down.

Last night was a moment for all of us to come together and to recognize people who are creating positive loving actions in our communities. Let’s do more of that and trust that love and kindness will prevail.
